Established in 1832, Mustad is one of the
oldest and the largest manufacturers of hooks in the world.
No. 31010ST, No
31014, and No. 34966ST are straight "Limerick"
hooks. They are formed from round wire, and if straightened they can usually be formed
back to the proper shape.
No. 31010ST and No. 34966ST have a special coating for rust resistance. If you are
going out for a weekend fishing trip or if you loose them fast these hooks are a very good
choice.
If you are fishing long and hard we would suggest a different
hook.
(No. 34966ST has a high shine and is very popular with
Florida fishermen that do not bait.)
No. 31014 is a "Limerick"
stainless steel hook. This is a good hook and is ideal for years of fishing where there
are a lot of bottom logs, etc. If it is necessary to straighten this hook, it can usually
be formed back to its proper shape.
No. 34081 and No.
34009 are straight "O'Shaughnessy" hooks. They are forged to the proper
shape and they are very strong. (These are the hooks with the flat sides.) Due to being
forged, these hooks are very hard to straighten. They are almost sure to break if you try
to return it to its proper shape.
We think the No. 34081 is one of the
best buys you can find in trotline hooks. Most fishermen get a full fishing season out of
this hook. If you fish a lot, but occasionally loose a line, this is the hook for you.
No. 34009 is our top of the line
stainless steel Mustad hook for the fishermen that demands the best. If you fish year
after year and don't loose too many lines, this is the hook for you.
A lot of fishermen that have never used a circle hook comment
that they don't see how a fish can be caught on this hook. But after using them, a lot of
people don't want to use anything else. No. 39960ST is a
straight hook, No. 39965 is slightly curved. The 11/0 hooks have
a 1/2" gap which is required in some areas. Other hooks available are: Bream Hooks No. 6 & 8; Perch
Hooks No. 37363; Shark hooks: No. 4480, Alligator
Hooks: No. 3406;
Stump Hooks: No. 95160; Treble Hooks: No.
